Power distributors have amassed operational losses of US$388.8 million from January to August 2015, Diario Libre reports. The total is US$492 million if the investments made during the period are included.
As reported, from 2008 to date, the three power distribution companies now under government management have chalked up a deficit of US$4.08 billion, according to a report from the Public Electricity Corporation (CDEEE).
Local electricity sector expert Bernardo Castellanos estimates that from 2010-2015, the cash flow deficit of the power distributors is at US$5.37 billion.
