The municipal council of Pedernales has announced that the bi-national market in the south western border town will not take place today, Monday 16 November 2015, after an outbreak of cholera on the Haitian side of the border.
As reported, hospitals in the Haitian border town of Anse-a-Pitres are treating several suspected cholera cases, and a source told Listin Diario that there have been 10 deaths. On Sunday 15 November 2015 the Elio Fiallo Hospital in Pedernales admitted six patients with possible symptoms of the disease.
