Last year’s Black Friday, a new tradition imported from the United States, recorded the highest sales in the Dominican Republic. As reported in Diario Libre, consumers spent RD$1,019,527,031 in 2014 compared to the RD$888,741,503 spent for the entire Christmas season.
As reported, 7,719,343 credit card transactions took place on Black Friday 2014. Advertising was high at RD$90 million. Household appliances, clothing, footwear and technological devices made up 54% of all purchases, according to Lowe Interamerica Dominicana, as reported in Diario Libre.
This year Black Friday falls on Friday, 27 November. Already several stores have been advertising pre- Black Friday sales.
