President Danilo Medina and the visiting President of Panama, Juan Carlos Varela, accompanied by First Ladies Candida Montilla and Lorena Castillo were present for the opening of the Santiago Center for Comprehensive Care for Special Needs (CAID) yesterday, Thursday 19 November 2015. This is the second of five centers for children with special needs under construction by the Medina administration. The first opened two years ago on Av. Luperon in Santo Domingo West. The program is directed by First Lady Candida Montilla.
The center provides services to children up to the age of 10 with autism, Down Syndrome and cerebral palsy.
