Dominican Republic National Archives director Roberto Cassa says that a system of social exclusion combined with the decomposition of values has emerged alongside the economic development underway in the Dominican Republic. He commented that the country was “a rich country but more orphaned by the day in terms of values.” He said that while corruption was not a new phenomenon in the country, there were new components with more damaging effects.
He stated: “Corruption is the worst disease in the country, it is a cancer that makes other diseases worse and is a disgrace that permeates everything.” He was speaking on Friday, 20 November 2015 after being honored by INTEC University.
Author and historian Cassa is best known for having successfully organized the National Archives.
