Expect traffic to worsen once the Medina administration pays out the 13th wage in the Dominican Republic, the traditional Christmas bonus. On Sunday, 22 November 2015, President Danilo Medina announced that the payment would start being made earlier than ever, starting on Friday, 4 December 2015 with the last to be paid on 11 December.
He made the announcement during his Sunday surprise visit to the Salvador Ferrer Beekeepers’ Cooperative, where he announced a donation of RD$4.5 million to the beekeepers and RD$24 million in financing to support their operation, which sells honey on the local market and exports to the US.
