Former Attorney General Radhames Jimenez (2006-2012 under the Leonel Fernandez administration) has denied links with resigning member of the Judicial Branch Council (CPJ) judge Francisco Arias Valera. Arias Valera is mentioned in connection with corruption cases. When he resigned, Arias Valera announced he would go to work for Radhames Jimenez Pena’s private office. Jimenez said they were friends, but there was not any more to it than that.
Attorney General Francisco Dominguez Brito has denounced a mafia structure allegedly led by resigning judge Francisco Arias Valera that supposedly operated within the CPJ to manipulate legal processes and benefit criminals. He is accusing five judges, Awilda Reyes Beltre, Jose Duverge Mejia, Delio German Figueroa, Roso Vallejo Espinosa and Victor Mejia Lebron, who have been suspended without pay and are facing disciplinary hearings, of belonging to this structure.
On Monday, 23 November 2015 the president of the Supreme Court of Justice said that suspended judge Reyes Beltre had admitted to accepting payments in return for favorable decisions.
