The Center for Diagnostics and Advanced Medicine and Medical Conferences and Telemedicine (Cedimat) has received certification for having fulfilled Accreditation Council Canada’s first accreditation cycle. The announcement represents a major boost for medical tourism in the country. Cedimat becomes the first medical center in the country and only the third in Latin America – after Chile and Mexico – to receive the accreditation for quality medical services and infrastructure.
The accreditation was presented by Cedimat medical director, Dr. Jose Rafael Yunen. He said that 37 million annual trips are made for medical tourism. He said the accreditation improves the Dominican Republic’s positioning to compete for patients seeking medical services outside Canada.
