Contradictions in renewable energy

In a press release from the Association for the Promotion of Renewable Energy Companies (Asofer), its president Karina Chez observes that while President Danilo Medina signed the country up as a founding member of the Solar Energy Alliance as part of the Climate Conference in Paris that he attended in early December 2015, on the local front the National Energy Commission is sabotaging the sector’s development by creating obstacles to cases awaiting approval and proposing devastating changes to the regulations on renewable energy.

In a press release, the association says that the government wants to change incentives for renewable energy as part of the Electricity Pact now being negotiated even without a consensus from all sectors.

Chez says that there is now the option for a family to sell excess energy supply created by a renewable source back to the national grid, but the CNE now wants to charge a fee while banning energy being produced on a roof by a business or residence. The changes would also violate the rights that have already been awarded to everyone who has installed the systems.
