The Airport Department has started building a heliport with two helipads on the site of Dominican government-owned La Mansion hotel in San Jose de las Matas, Santiago province.
Airport Department director Marino A. Collante said that the heliport would be used by tourists and for emergency cases. He said the location has capacity for two large helicopters.
He added that another heliport would soon be built in the city of Santiago and announced the renovation of the Santo Domingo heliport located on the Autopista 30 de Mayo on the Caribbean coast.
