Specialized Tourist Safety Corps (Cestur) director General Juan Carlos Torres Robiou has announced that they will be posting vehicles at the access roads to the airports and ports around the country as of today, Tuesday 8 December 2015
The objective is to safeguard the security of visitors arriving in the country for the holidays and is being carried out in coordination with the Armed Forces, Ministry of Defense, National Police and the Ministry of Public Works. A total of 1,200 people will be involved in the exercise.
Torres Robiou commented that this year more than RD$50 million has been spent on improving safety for tourists, especially in Puerto Plata, Bavaro and Punta Cana where there are more resources, equipment and personnel.
