The Senate has passed a bill that authorizes the governmental BanReservas to finance up to RD$1.2 billion for government entities that have spent their allocations for the Christmas wages. The money will be assigned to decentralized and non-financial government entities, social security institutions and municipal governments, including that of the National District. The institutions will repay the funds in 11 installments from the 2016 National Budget.
By law in the Dominican Republic, employees are paid the 13th wage in December.
