Quisqueya Bi-National Economic Council breaks ground

The Quisqueya Bi-National Economic Council (CEBQ) has announced that the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of factories in Dajabon will take place today, Tuesday 15 December 2015.

This is the most ambitious and comprehensive development project for the border region with Haiti, an area with a population of 3 million people and unemployment of 60%.

This is the start of the Pilot Zone 1, the first interconnection at the border with Haiti of four that are planned for the development of projects. The Pilot Zone 1 includes Dajabon and Pepillo Salcedo on the Dominican side of the border and Ouanaminthe and Fort Liberte on the Haitian side. It will consist of developing infrastructure and logistics to make the most of the Manzanillo Port and create efficient industrial parks such as the Codevi clothing industrial center.
