PLD primary results challenged in Santo Domingo North

Three of the PLD pre-candidates for mayor in Santo Domingo North have rejected the results of the primaries that took place on Sunday, 13 January 2015.

Carlos Guzman, Jesus Feliz and William Castillo are asking for another election, saying that many people were unable to vote because they did not appear on the voting list. In addition they claim that the ballot boxes were left open; there was a lack of scrutiny and lack of seals as well as other important materials.

In La Caleta, pre-candidate Marcial Reyes has presented proof of fraud, which he says helped the existing mayor, Jesus Mercedes. He has handed over 78 votes by people who voted for him but they were not counted, as well as voting summaries which have been altered and do not add up to the actual votes made. He went on to say that the ballot papers were found in a garbage can at a local school.
