Cleaning up the voting list

The Central Electoral Board (JCE) has announced the elimination of 3,939 ID documents found to have been issued through fraudulent operations. A commission of inspectors checked 5,161 cases of which they ordered cancelation of 1,919 for duplication, 254 for double identity, 179 for double registration, 481 for impersonation and 257 that need to be revalidated.

The JCE reported there were cases of people with an ID and then attempted to get another one with their fingerprints. The JCE also reported says that out of 6,949 cases studied for changes in voting address, in 5,008 the address changes were revoked. The province of Pedernales registered the largest number of annulled cases, with 1,537 of 1,649 change-of-address requests.
