Jesus Pascual Cordero Martinez (El Chino), who is accused of drug trafficking, contract killing and asset laundering, has been sent to the jurisdiction of Higuey where his pre-trial custody will be implemented. He needs to answer to recent accusations of owning a farm where cocaine from Peru was converted to liquid cocaine. He is also accused of having amassed a fortune estimated at more than RD$300 million from organized crime. He topped the list of wanted fugitives when he was arrested when visiting a hospital for medical treatment. He said he had not turned himself in because he suffers from diabetes and high blood pressure and does not think he will survive in jail.
