A report in acento.com.do focuses on the growing wealth of judge Rafael Leonidas Ciprian Lora. The online news outlet says that according to his declared assets, he is wealthier than the president of the Supreme Court of Justice.
Recently, he was removed from the position as judge of the First Hall of the Administrative Disputes Court and sent as first substitute to the Second Hall of the Labor Court of the National District. At the time he said there was a plot against him from various sectors, including National District prosecutor Yeni Berenice Reynoso.
As reported, in 1999 when Ciprian Lora made his first asset statement he had RD$14 million. By 2011 he had declared RD$37 million and by 2014, he had accumulated wealth of RD$65 million working as a judge. His last post was judge of the First Hall of the Administrative Disputes Court. Acento makes the point that the president of the Supreme Court of Justice had declared wealth for RD$49 million.
By payroll, judge Ciprian receives RD$150,000 a month. The president of the Supreme Court of Justice earns RD$423,000 in salary.
