According to data published by the Dominican Telecommunications Institute (Indotel) 8.69 million mobile telephone lines were in operation in the country at the end of September 2015, up from 8.02 million the previous year.
Pre-paid lines in operation went up from 6.38 million in September 2014 to 6.84 million in September 2015, while post-paid lines also increased from 1.64 million to 1.85 million.
The number of Internet accounts increased from 3.51 million to 4.66 million during the same period, which represents a growth of 32.5%.
Mobile Internet access went up from 83.32% in September 2014 to 85.62% in September 2015 and the number of pay-TV subscribers (cable, IPTV, satellite, wireless) grew from 44,444 to 648,137.
