First Lady goes to Cuba

First Lady Candida Montilla traveled to Havana on Monday, 11 January 2016 for meetings with members of the central government as well as health, welfare and social authorities in Cuba. Her agenda includes meetings with the vice president of the Cuban State Council, Maria Bejarano Portela and the Cuban Minister of Public Health, Roberto Morales Ojeda.

During her visit, the First Lady will be networking to help develop the Integrated Care Centers for Disabled Children (CAID) recently opened in the Dominican Republic.

The First Lady will also be signing a bilateral cooperation agreement to improve the training and consolidation of social programs for the most vulnerable groups and visiting the Home for People with Different Abilities under construction in the Colonial City in Havana.

The First Lady will also be meeting with Mariela Castro Espin, the director of the Center of Sexual Education and Deputy in the Cuban Parliament, Dr. Raul Jose Macias Gonzalez at the International Center of Neurological Restoration and Dr. Henry Carreno Cuador at the Las Praderas International Health Center.

Montilla is scheduled to return tomorrow, Thursday 14 January. She is accompanied by Rafael Ovalles, director general of the Institute for Technical and Professional Training (INFOTEP) and the technical coordinator of her office, Martha Rodriguez de Baez.
