24 of 60 of the PRSC board members have announced that they will continue supporting the PLD presidential candidate, President Danilo Medina. The PRSC, now a minority party, has been a beneficiary of political patronage from its alliance with the ruling PLD since 1996. The PRSC board, which is chaired by Federico Antun Batlle recently announced the party was forming an alliance with the PRM and supporting presidential candidate Luis Abinader.
“All Dominicans need to be proud of the progress that the country has made during the governments shared by the PRSC and PLD,” said Joaquin Ricardo, spokesman for the members who signed the alliance with the PLD. The signatories included Rafael Bello Andino, Anibal Paez, Johnny Jones, Florentino Carvajal Suelo, Felix Vasquez, Marino Beriguete, Cesar Dargam, Luis Bogaert, Rafaela Alburquerque and Marino Collante, as reported in Diario Libre.
