February is Carnival month in the Dominican Republic with parades every Sunday in the cities of La Vega, Bonao and Santiago. Yesterday, Thursday 14 January 2016 the Santiago Carnival organizing committee announced that the 2016 event would assemble in the city’s El Monumento area. The organizers say that more than 80 surveillance cameras have been installed this year in order to improve safety for the thousands of people who attend the parades.
