Diario Libre reporters are asking the government what happened to the construction of the Hospital General y de Especialidades de la Ciudad de la Salud Charles de Gaulle, which was abandoned four years ago despite having reached an advanced stage. Diario Libre reports that the project was a turnkey venture by Carimex, which has also built other hospitals. The agreement includes construction and equipping and fell under the controversial Office of Supervisory Engineers of the State (OISOE), probably the government office that has made the most headlines for corruption in recent years. The project was due for delivery in 2014 but was abandoned by the contractors. An explanation from the authorities has not been forthcoming.
