The PLD has confirmed its support for a one-year extension for Johnny Jones in the post of General Secretary of the Dominican Municipal League. It is reported that both the Political Committee and PLD party president, former President Leonel Fernandez agreed with the decision as well as mayors around the country.
Jones will be sworn in for the additional year at the Jaragua Renaissance Hotel in Santo Domingo on 26 February 2016.
Jones, who is a member of the PRSC, recently rejected his party’s decision to form an alliance with the main opposition PRM. Jones says he continues to support Danilo Medina and his aspirations for a second presidential term in the 2016 general election.
