The Ministry of Culture and the Corripio Foundation have announced that the writer Angela Hernandez has won the National Prize for Literature 2016.
The announcement was made yesterday, Tuesday 26 January 2016 at the Corripio Foundation offices in the presence of the jury, made up of chairman Jose Luis (Pepin) Corripio Estrada, a representative from the Ministry of Culture, Jose Antonio Rodriguez, and the rectors and authorities from the main higher education establishments, the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), PUCMM in Santiago, the Pedro Henriquez Urena National University (UNPHU), the Central Eastern University (UCE) and the Catholic University of Santo Domingo (UCSD).
When the verdict was announced, Corripio said that Angela Hernandez had been chosen by unanimous vote for her multifaceted and consistent contributions to the creation of different types of literature, for the quality of her work, acclaimed nationally and internationally and for the ethical integrity in her writing.
