The National Business Council (CONEP) has set out its five top priorities to be presented to the 2016 presidential candidates. These are: changes to the Labor Code, a structural reform of the tax code, reliable electricity service at competitive prices, guarantees of an efficient and competitive cargo and passenger transport service, and independent, accessible, efficient judicial branch.
Conep’s executive vice president Rafael Paz said that the business entity would work with other civil society organizations to monitor the political campaign and the elections. He added that they would continue to call for the passing of the Political Parties Bill, which would impose controls on the political sector.
