According to the Seismological Institute at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo, four earthquakes have been recorded over the last few days up to yesterday, Tuesday 2 February 2016, measuring between 3.24 and 4.14 on the Richter scale.
The largest and the latest struck at 6:58am around five kilometers southwest of Guayamate in La Romana yesterday, Tuesday, 2 February, registering 4.14 on the Richter scale. Another occurred on the same day at 4.32 am, 33 kilometers west of Samana, and another, which registered 3.24, around 6 kilometers south east of Las Terrenas at 3am. Finally another tremor was felt at 2.46 am on Friday registering 3.45, some 3 kilometers north east of Puerto Plata.
So far no damage or injuries have been reported.
