A National District Court has established that the first trial of a man with dual Italian and Canadian nationality, Antonio Carbone will begin on 9 February 2016. He is accused, along with two other foreigners who are fugitives from justice, of the attempted homicide in December 2014 of the General Manager of Dream Casinos Corporation, Fernando Arturo Baez Guerrero.
Carbone, who is currently being held in jail in San Pedro de Macoris in one year’s pre-trial detention, is being accused of attempted murder, stalking, and the illegal carrying of a weapon. He is also accused of throwing a bomb into Guerrero’s car in Los Cacicazgos, in Santo Domingo.
The fugitives are Andres Kan and Francesco Carbone, Antonio’s brother. They are accused of throwing the bomb and burning out the vehicle. There is an arrest warrant out for both men, who are described as extremely dangerous.
