The director of the Office of Supervising Engineers of State Projects (OISOE) Francisco Pagan Rodriguez, has ordered the resumption of reconstruction work on the San Bartolome Hospital in the southwestern town of Neiba as well as a clinic and primary healthcare facility for RD$39 million. Construction work on the first of these two buildings was halted several months ago. Much of the installations were demolished last year in order in preparation for the remodeling, which left very limited space to continue providing health services to local people.
After taking on the post as OISOE director, Pagan assessed the conditions and real needs of this health center, and established that the current situation required immediate intervention. Special emphasis will be made on responding to the hospital system’s new requirements, in terms of the quality of the floors and the emergencies and inpatient areas, although the whole hospital will be remodeled. The hospital will have 40 beds and other modern facilities. The remodeling should be completed in three months time.
