Pension fund embargoes Diandino Pena and Opret

The Construction Workers Pension Fund announced yesterday, Wednesday 3 February 2016 that it had embargoed the personal accounts of Metro head engineer Diandino Pena and the Office for the Reorganization of Transportation (Opret) that is building and operating the Santo Domingo Metro over a debt of RD$155 million resulting from the construction of the expansion of the second line of the Santo Domingo Metro. According to the entity, the First Chamber of the Superior Administrative Tribunal (TSA) found Pena and the Opret guilty of violating the agreement signed with the pension fund on 15 January 2013, in which they were committed to paying the institution the accumulated debt during the construction of the second Metro line in monthly installments, but have failed to comply.

In their press release, the pension fund points out that in addition to the payment of the debt, the magistrates ordered Pena and Opret to pay 1 million pesos in compensation to the pension plan for the damage caused by the violations committed against Law 6-86.
