The Dominican Republic Exporters Association (ADOEXPO) estimates that trade between the DR and Haiti dropped US$400 million in 2015. During the year, Haiti imposed several bans on imports from the DR affecting trade. The decline also reflects the continuing economic and political crisis affecting the neighboring country.
Adoexpo president Sadala Khoury says that 2015 was a bad year for Dominican exports. He recalls that in 2014, Dominican exports reached US$1.47 billion.
