El Chino out of jail and sitting at home

Attorney General Francisco Dominguez Brito says that the change in the remand terms for Pascual Cordero Martinez (a.k.a El Chino) from pre-trial custody to house arrest is both imprudent and worrying.

He said his office would appeal the house arrest on the grounds that Cordero is accused of heading the drug trade in Greater Santo Domingo. He said when the evidence is produced it would show a long history of murders ordered by him. Dominguez Brito said that this was one man who was extremely dangerous for the whole of Dominican society.

Dominguez Brito said that the security agencies had worked extremely hard in order to capture El Chino, who was on the list of the most wanted men in the country. He said that they were fighting to dismantle his gang completely.
