According to reports, the Santo Domingo Metro Line 2 went out of service from 4pm on Tuesday afternoon, 9 February 2016. Thousands of people depend on the Metro, the city’s most efficient traffic system. As reported in El Dia, stations on the line from Maria Montez to Freddy Beras Goico were operating, but not the others. El Dia quoted a Specialized Metro Security Service (Cesmet) agent as saying that the problem was caused by a failure in the electricity supply.
Metro spokesman Leonel Carrasco confirmed the failure that affected passengers traveling on the second line of the Metro from 4 to nearly 7pm yesterday was due to an electrical failure.
