During several raids last week, the National Police Anti-Noise Department arrested 117 people, confiscated 117 vehicles, 485 music systems, 785 speakers and 2 illegal gaming machines in 602 operations in several locations including the National District, Santo Domingo province, San Francisco de Macoris, Puerto Plata, Barahona, Santiago, Bani, San Pedro de Macoris, La Romana, San Juan de la Maguana, Bonao and Valverde.
According to the Police, ever since Major General Nelson Peguero Paredes took over leadership of the force, the number of raids was increased to try and cut back on noise that was affecting the public. The operations were coordinated by the National System of Emergency Assistance and Security 911.
