In the 15 May 2016 elections, National District voters will choose for 18 deputies and Santo Domingo province voters another 36, the highest number in the country. This means that there will be 54 deputies in the Greater Santo Domingo area representing over a quarter of all 190 deputies for the whole country and overseas population.
Twelve of the provinces only have two deputies: Elias Pina, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, Independencia, Montecristi, Pedernales, Hermanas Mirabal, Samana, Santiago Rodriguez, San Jose de Ocoa, Bahoruco and Dajabon.
Barahona, La Romana, Azua and Monte Plata have four deputies each and Maria Trinidad Sanchez, Peravia and Monsenor Nouel have three.
