Officials from the Dominican Republic Center for Exports and Investment (CEI-RD), coordinated a visit by a business delegation to the 2016 Berlin Fruit Logistica Fair earlier this month. The event enabled Dominican farming sector companies to secure an estimated RD$1.325 billion in new business with the European market, according to the CEI-RD.
CEI-RD executive director Jean Alain Rodriguez reported that the business mission presented its products during the fair, made contact with outstanding buyers throughout Europe, and closed several deals. The delegates also learned about new trends and innovations in production, packing and sales of farm products.
Rodriguez stressed that the Dominican Republic government was represented with a stand exhibiting a range of products from the national farming sector. The groups showing their products included Agritrade Farms, the Mango Cluster, the Banamiel Group and Exotic Farms, as well as the Dominican Agro-Business Board (JAD).
