The Ministry of Culture is inaugurating the XIV National Artisans Fair (FENART), which will run from today, 11 February until Sunday, 14 February 2016, St. Valentine’s Day, at the Fortaleza Santo Domingo from 9am to 10pm. The opening ceremony, which takes place at 5pm today, Thursday 11 February 2016, will be headed by Vice President Margarita Cedeno and Minister of Culture Jose Antonio Rodriguez.
The event has been dedicated to the artisans of Santiago with the slogan “Artesano hasta la tambora” that roughly translates to “An artisan all the way.”
During the opening ceremony the National Artisan Prize will be awarded to five artisans whose works were selected by the Ministry. The winners will receive a certificate from the Ministry of Culture along with cash prizes ranging from RD$80,000 to RD$20,000.
