Minnesota Timberwolves rookie Karl-Anthony Towns won the 2016 NBA Skills Challenge yesterday, Sunday, 14 February 2016 in Toronto, Canada.
Born in the USA to a Dominican mother and US father, Towns has played on the Dominican national team in the past. He was the 2015 No. 1 overall pick.
CBS Sports reports that Isaiah Thomas of the Boston Celtics and Towns were neck and neck for most of the Finals but the Timberwolves rookie was able to make a three before the Celtics All-Star. As soon as Towns made his shot, in a show of solidarity the other big men in the event rushed him in celebration. They then posed with Towns while he accepted the Skills Challenge trophy.
His former university team, Kentucky highlighted Towns’ ability to handle the ball, shoot the three and make the extra pass, calling him the epitome of the big man.
