Every Sunday in February is carnival time in the Dominican Republic with the main carnival parade along the Santo Domingo Malecon on Sunday, 6 March 2016 with the best troupes from all the country’s carnivals.
The Santo Domingo East carnival, organized by the Santo Domingo East Municipal Council, takes place along Avenida Espana on Sunday 22 February from 2pm. Salsa musician Yiyo Sarante and urban musician Mozart la Para will be headlining the free concert on Sunday, 22 February.
The country’s biggest carnival parade will be held in Santo Domingo on Sunday, 6 March 2016 with the country’s best carnival troupes coming together for an afternoon-long parade along the Malecon.
Santo Domingo is celebrating its own carnival on Av. Maximo Gomez on 21 and 28 February 2016 at 4pm, organized by the National District city government with a long list of musical entertainers.
Most outstanding and colorful, nevertheless, are the carnivals in the cities of La Vega, Bonao and Santiago every Sunday in February.
