On Friday, 19 February 2016, 50-year old Eddy D’Oleo became the first of the people who were injured in the SolGas propane gas station explosion to die at the Ney Arias Lora Trauma Hospital in Santo Domingo where he was being treated for critical injuries. Another five victims are also on the critical list after being hospitalized following the explosion.
The explosion occurred on Tuesday, 16 February, in a residential neighborhood in Los Rios in Santo Domingo North. D’Oleo suffered burns and concussion and was a high-risk patient. On Thursday evening he suffered a pulmonary edema that led to his death.
