President Danilo Medina has expressed his sorrow at the news of the death of veteran journalist and diplomat Silvio Herasme Pena who died yesterday, Monday 22 February 2016 after suffering a heart attack.
Herasme Pena was one of the first journalism graduates from the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) in 1966. He was a member of the press team that worked at Listin Diario after it reopened and worked in the government press department during the 1965 revolution. He also worked for El Nacional and La Noticia.
More recently he wrote a Sunday column for Listin Diario and also served in a number of diplomatic postings, including Dominican ambassador in Haiti, Colombia and Uruguay.
