The Colegio Dominicano de Periodistas (CDP), which represents journalists in the Dominican Republic has described Resolution TC012013-0009) of the Constitutional Court on defamation as “discriminatory, partial and incomplete.” CDP president Olivo de Leon said that the ruling issued by the Constitutional Court on Sunday, 21 February 2016 releases media executives and owners from responsibility in the case of judicial prosecution, but leaves reporters and journalists to defend themselves. They said they would issue their final opinion once the Court publishes the decision in full.
