The former Hilton Hotel on the Malecon has been operating as the Catalonia Hotel Santo Domingo since 1 February 2016. This is the first city hotel opened by the Spanish chain that operates two hotels and two golf courses in Punta Cana on the east coast and another resort on Bayahibe beach in the southeast. Ivan Cunillera is the hotel’s first general manager. Meanwhile, Hilton will be opening a Homewood Suites on Av. Winston Churchill for extended day stays.
