A man arriving at JFK airport in New York from the Dominican Republic has been arrested, allegedly in possession of three pounds of heroin hidden in his shoes.
The New York Post reports that agents stopped a man named as Perez Beltran as he came through JFK Airport on a flight from the Dominican Republic on Wednesday, 24 February 2016 when they noticed that three pairs of sneakers in his luggage were particularly heavy. They broke the sneakers open and found a tan, powdery substance that turned out to be heroin with a street value of US$90,000.
Agents turned Perez Beltran over to the Department of Homeland Security and he will be federally prosecuted.
