The minority Liberal Reformist Party (PLR) has proclaimed President Danilo Medina as its presidential candidate for the May 2016 elections.
The ceremony took place on Monday, 29 February 2016 at the Dominican Fiesta Hotel in Santo Domingo where Medina was proclaimed by PLR president and senator for La Altagracia, Amable Aristy Castro.
On 16 January 2016, Aristy Castro revealed that he had come to an agreement with the ruling PLD to back Medina in the general election.
Medina thanked Aristy Castro for his support and the trust the PLR had in him.
Reynaldo Pared Perez, Francisco Javier Garcia, Andres Vanderhorst, Rafael Bello Andino, Humberto Salazar, Alexandra Izquierdo, Gonzalo Castillo, along with other government figures and allied members of the PLD also attended the event.
