Do not miss the orchid exhibition being held from 10 to 13 March 2016 at the Botanical Gardens in Santo Domingo. The annual event is organized by the Dominican Orchideology Association (SDO). Now in its 44th year, it brings together the country’s leading orchid growing specialists, who exhibit their best samples. 350 orchid species are cultivated in the country. A contest is held to choose the best of the year. During the event, people can receive advice on how to grow their own orchids and purchase lovely specimens. The exhibition opens to the general public on Thursday, 10 March at 9am through 6pm. Admission is RD$150.
