The Jose Maria Cabral y Baez Regional University Hospital in Santiago has reported two suspected cases of patients with cholera, which brings the week’s total to 12 possible cases. Hospital spokesman Johnny Lama said that the patients were hospitalized with severe vomiting and diarrhea, typical symptoms of the disease. Nonetheless, Lama added that it was not possible to confirm that it was actually cholera until the lab test results have been received. He said that the patients live in the communities of Villa Gonzalez and Hato Del Yaque, and in the municipal district of La Canela, all in the province of Santiago, as reported in Diario Libre.
