Former mayor of La Vega, Fausto Ruiz has been chosen as the PRM candidate for deputy for the province. Ruiz initially aspired to run for mayor on the PRD ticket.
He decided to run for deputy after failing to reach an alliance for the post with the PRD or PLD. “If I did a good job as mayor, voters can be sure I will do the same as a legislator,” he said. The PRM alliance also designated deputy Ramon Rogelio Genao as candidate for senator for La Vega and Kelvin Cruz as candidate for mayor for La Vega.
