According to the National Police, two bullet casings found at the scene where the former rector of the UASD University, Mateo Aquino Febrillet was killed on Friday, 11 March 2016, along with the bullet removed from his body, do in fact match a gun owned by Fenatrado truckers’ union leader Blas Peralta. Peralta sought to be elected deputy on the PRM ticket for San Cristobal.
Police spokesman General Maximo Baez Aybar stated that ballistic evidence proved that the bullet was fired from a gun that Peralta had been assigned in 2006.
Baez Aybar added that Peralta also had been tested for gunshot residue and the results would be revealed by the Public Prosecution service along with the rest of the evidence they have collected.
The hearing will be in the National District tomorrow, Wednesday, 16 March 2016 when pre-trial detention terms for FENATRADO transport union leader Blas Peralta will be decided, along with his head of security, retired National Police Colonel Rafael Herrera Pena, and Geraldo Feliz Bautista and Franklin Venegas. The Public Prosecution Service will be asking for a year in pretrial custody.
