The city government of Santo Domingo will be celebrating Easter beach days at Guibia Park starting Thursday, 24 March 2016. The Roman Catholic Church has expressed concern at the environmental impact on the grounds that the event is a waste of water and a source of pollution. The Guibia Park includes the installation 12 temporary plastic swimming pools for the enjoyment of poor children who cannot afford to go to beach resorts. The park is located on the Malecon seafront boulevard right beside the Caribbean Sea.
