Attorney General Francisco Dominguez Brito says that the Public Prosecution service will take a firm stance in the case of the murder of former UASD rector Mateo Aquino Febrillet. He announced that they would request pre-trial detention for the accused.
He said that the 911 security cameras in the area have sufficient proof to ask for 30 years behind bars for Blas Peralta, president of the National Dominican Transport Federation (Fenatrado), retired colonel Rafael Herrera Pena, Franklin Venega and Geraldo Felix Batista.
He said that this is not the first time truckers’ union president Peralta has been involved in bloody deeds and other serious illegal actions, therefore he should not benefit from any lenient pre-trial measures
He called for immediate jail for the accused so that they could not interfere with the investigation or the evidence that he said directly incriminated them. He also warned that they were likely to do anything to avoid trial including fleeing the country. He also warned that Blas Peralta was a danger to society and would stop at nothing including faking illness.
